Seasonal observations, nature notes, and homeschool reflections from the week outdoors.

Seasonal Observations · End of Spring
As we neared the end of spring this week, our weather shifted from cool days with storms to our first day above 90 degrees. New flowers were blooming, pollen filled the air, and creatures seemed busy everywhere. It feels like summer is nearly here.
What We Noticed
- Some of the seeds we planted last week needed to be re-covered
- Wind can still feel cold on a sunny morning
- We had another big strawberry harvest
- Hundreds of ants were busy on the driveway

Weather Conditions
From stormy days in the mid-60’s to a hot 91 degrees by the end of the week.
The plants need more water during hot weather.

Field Notes
New flowers blooming this week:
- Yarrow
- Feverfew
- Fireweed
- “Hot Lips” Salvia
So much pollen makes us sneeze.

Wondering About
A flicker was digging where I moved some rocks. Was it looking for food?
