Outside This Week · August
This week the mornings felt cooler as we played at a neighborhood park and ran a 5K race across town. The afternoons were still warm, sunny and dry, leaving plenty of time to discover colorful flowers and rocks in the yard. We also enjoyed listening to crows calling all around us, until they gathered together and got the dogs across the fence barking too.
What We Noticed
In our backyard:
- We heard a “chorus of crows” all around us
- All three dahlias are blooming now
- The goldenrod is fully yellow
- We dug for rocks of different colors
- We looked at the rocks with a microscope
Weather Conditions
Cooler, gray mornings all week, with warm and sunny afternoons.
Field Notes
- Our first zucchini is almost ready for harvest
- The dogwood fruit that fell into our yard has little hexagon shapes
- I found and saved a four-leaf clover
- Some of our plants need more water
