Second Grade Reading List

Updated August 19, 2026

A growing collection of the chapter books we’ve read together during second grade. This page serves as our family reading journal, with short reflections and links to related articles as we explore themes more deeply on parMINDary.

More Reading Together

  • 📖 Kindergarten
  • 📖 1st Grade
  • 📖 2nd Grade (current)
  • 📖 3rd Grade (coming soon)

You will find a mix of early reader chapter books, graphic novels, and a heavy emphasis on longer chapter books. Some may be read aloud by the child, and in our home, many were read aloud by a parent for a shared family experience. We explore a diverse range of topics and subjects through both classic and modern stories.

Reading together is woven into our everyday learning, and we are usually reading more than one chapter book at the same time. Each story leads to new questions, conversations, and discoveries.

Along the way, we note a few of the patterns, ideas, and connections that stood out to us, with links to related articles on parMINDary as our library continues to grow.
